Desert Mountain Home and Golf Community Desert Mountain is a guard-gated master planned community, set on 8,000 acres at Scottsdale’s northern edge in what is called the high Sonoran Desert. The community backs up to the 4,300-foot Apache Peak. Temperatures in Desert Mountain usually run about 5 to 10 degrees cooler than temperatures in the metropolitan Phoenix area. Thanks to recent highway construction and improvement, downtown Scottsdale and Phoenix are a short trip from the community. Desert Mountain features five different private Jack Nicklaus golf courses. Renegade, the oldest course, has a dual-flag design that enables players of varying skill levels to play together. The Cochise course provides golfing amid dramatic boulder outcroppings; the community’s Geronimo course features different elevations and an 18th hole played over a canyon and onto a two-tier green. Apache is the most traditional course, and the Chiricahua course has been dubbed “the most refined.” Four clubhouses serve the courses. The community Sonoran Clubhouse offers a tennis complex, a fitness center with spa services and pools. Golf memberships go for about $325,000. Only 248 sites remained. Homesites at Desert Mountain are available in distinct areas throughout the community at elevations ranging from 2,500 feet above sea level all the way up to 4,800 feet above sea level. In areas such as Saguaro Forest, Cochise/Geronimo Village, Lone Mountain and Apache Peak, home sites are priced from the mid-$400,000s up to $2 million. Custom homes range $800,000 to $25,000,000+. |
