Desert Forest Golf Club is widely considered the first desert-style course ever built. And that was just the beginning of the considerable acclaim accorded to this desert gem over it's 45 plus year history. In 1962, architect Robert "Red" Lawrence carved the course from existing desert landscape, with virtually "no soil having been removed or shaped during course construction." Its environmentally neutral setting remains today the hallmark of the course, with its desert characteristics proudly and beautifully displayed for the discerning eye to see and the dedicated golfer to appreciate.
Since its very beginning, the course has been earning honor after honor and has amassed an enviable record. Desert Forest Golf Club has been named one of Golf Digest's "Best 100 Courses in America" every year except one since the magazine’s rankings began 41 years ago and has appeared regularly on the "Top 100 Courses in the U.S." lists by Golf Magazine(presently ranked #79).
Compatibility among members is the goal of the new member admission process. Prospective members have the opportunity to meet and play golf with several current members before applying for membership. New members are recommended by the Admissions Committee and approved for membership by the Board of Directors.
Easy availability of tee times results from the limited membership. The Club’s bylaws limit the total number of Regular Members to 250 and Associate Members to 20. Golfers, who value a top-rated private course, easy availability of tee times, and the company of members who love golf, are encouraged to learn more about membership opportunities.
